NOTD: Accent Manicure

Hey chicas!

I've been bummed that I haven't been able to blog, but I was dealing with a really bad cold that I just couldn't seem to shake. But, I'm now feeling better with the exception of a partial stuffy nose, and today is my birthday! Yay! Anyway, I wanted this post to be a follow up to the Sally Hansen Extreme Wear nail polish.

I'm sure most have seen or heard of this nail trend, which I came across a few months ago, called an accent or contrast manicure. I'm not one to follow trends just because it's "in", but I love this trend! I used the Sally Hansen nail polish, which I talked about in my last post.

This almost reminds me of when I was younger, and the cool thing was to paint every nail, or every other nail a different color. However, this a way watered down version, it's a little more polished (no pun intended) yet still fun. It's the perfect touch to a manicure when you can't decide between two colors that you want to use. Or, use complimentary colors, which is what I thought of when I heard the term accent manicure. You can also just stay in the same color family and use different hues. The possibilities are endless! Since summer is around the corner, I'm also going to start doing this to my pedicures to match my nails!

What do you think of the accent manicure? What colors do you pair together?

Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear

Hey chicas!

This past weekend, my mom and I were killing some time in Kmart…yes Kmart. Does anyone else still go into Kmart, or is it just me? Anyway, we bopped around in the store, and made the makeup section our last stop. I mean, you gotta save the best for last, right? I kept roaming the aisles, and couldn’t find what I was looking for, but it was one of those many times I refused to leave without a little something :)

I debated on what to get, and thought I had what I wanted…but, Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear caught my eye. I bought Pacific Blue and Golden-I, and I love them!

The Pacific Blue was the first one that caught my eye, because of its bold color. It’s a cross between a periwinkle and cornflower blue. I bought Golden-I because, I actually haven’t had a gold in a long time, and I also thought it would be the perfect polish to do an accent manicure with (which will be my next post!)

You can get this polish at your local drugstores, Walmart, Kmart, etc. It costs about $3 plus tax. And the wear of the polish is really good. I’ve worn it for about a week, and no chipping! I love that this polish is a creamy consistency and goes on smooth, and you only need 2 coats. Sally Hansen has great nail polishes, which most of us already knew! :)

Late Night Makeup

Hey chicas!

So, I’ve been really slacking on the blog lately because I’ve been trying to enjoy the nice spring weather! I’m playing catch up, so you’ll probably be seeing a couple of posts from me today. My last post was about the L.A Colors palette, and I just wanted to show you what a couple of the colors looked like on the eye. I was just playing around with these and it was kinda late…

I was going for an everyday look, I love playing with color, but makeup just to go run errands or something, I like it pretty natural, so that’s what this is. It has a slight metallic sheen to it, as do some of the colors in the palette. The lighting didn’t catch it as well as I wanted it to, plus I used my iphone for this. But, I did a swatch on my hand, and this is what you’re not really getting to fully see in the pic.

After this look, I decided to try for a bolder look. I left the first color on, and just added a metallic green to the lid, and the first color acts as a highlight for the brow bone. (Again, sorry about the pic quality…*note to self: don’t use iphone!)

I also want to point out, that it could be very convenient and time saving, if you were to put on a natural eye makeup look for the day, and then if you’re going out, just add that bold color on the lid as I did. Just a thought/suggestion!
